VW Camper Family

A camping forum for VW bus and camper owners.

Free from Dometic. I called there customer service and they emailed me downloads for any manual I wanted. Some VW vendors want to sell them? Yea,right. Just go to Dometic and type in your model number and bingo!

Good detective work!
I also found a trouble shooting list from some guy on the internet that was awsome! No joke, I can now remove my dometic out of my 1990 Westy in less than 5 min.The first time I removed it I did what he said and turned it upside down for e few hours and that helped it big time! It now gets down to 35 degrees inside on gas or elec. It still is a pill to start on propane as they say but it does start.

Joe,
Here is the link to the site that helped me. Let me know if you were able open it? Also I contacted Dometic, told them my model number and she emailed me the owners manual and parts list. I had a wire loose on the igniter and that was it! I also found the schematic online for hooking up a second battery from the existing relay already behind the drivers seat.

My westy used to have a fridge and I spent time working on it and posting information. I eventually removed it. Here is a link to my gained insight.

I'm sure most of this is redundant to the Dometic factory information. Enjoy!
I guess I must be one of the few lucky ones. My Dometic reefer, stove and water had never been used since new in 1990. I hear horror stories about these little reefers though. If it starts giving me crap I'm going to install an Isotherm, had one on my sailboat and loved it. Had it running on 12 volts with solar panels and an 8 battery bank and never started my aux. I see what you mean about the room issue. There really is no room in the little Dometic.
