A camping forum for VW bus and camper owners.

Moving to ABQ in a week and wondering what the camping is like. Any suggestions?

 

Ive heard of Busses and Balloons in October, is there camping there.

well hello,

 

there is camping in the church parking lot where we have Busses and Balloons. there is also a lot of beautiful national as well as state forests and parksto camp in. the jemez mountains are an hour away and there is also the sandias right next to albuquerque just to name a few. join the forum at aaavwclub.com. we meet the first tuesday of the month in albuquerque, at fuddruckers on i-25 and jefferson.

Cool, I cant wait!  I am already signed up (dasluftvolks) on the AAA site, will check out the meets as soon as Im settled in.

 

Are there any organized AAA campouts?

except for busses and balloons there are none. but you will be more than welcome to organize one!!  lol.

The first weekend of the Hot Air Balloon fest there is a group that is having a camping event at a church in the Parking lot that I plan to be at.  I'll post back with the name of the group that is putting it on.

hi...check out Cimmaron Canyon there is two small campgrounds on the Cimmaron river, it's not too far from ABQ just east of Taos.

Looks great but looks to be closed for the season

It doesn't surprise me that its closed as dry as it is.  Most all of northern NM. parks are closed.

Villanueva State park is open!!! That is on the Pecos river.  Nice facility.
