A camping forum for VW bus and camper owners.
I need any information others might have on how to repair and service the refrigerator on my 1992 Volkswagen Eurovan Westfalia, as well as to find anyone who has parts for these units.
Mine seems to work when it is stationary and hooked up on 110 power, but it does not seem to work on the auxiliary battery, the 12 volt unit, when I am traveling. Is this a common aliment with these units and, if so, how can it be remedied? Also, where can I find either replacement units, either OEM or aftermarket, for the original one, or OEM parts for this unit. My Volkswagen mechanic seems at a loss in finding replacement units for the original one or in finding OEM parts for it.
Any information and technical assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Bruce,
Some friends of mine are in the same boat, no parts, run, does not run etc. If you are up for it check out Truckfridge I just put a t-49 model in my 87 westy and WOW very energy efficient and runs on AC or DC. When they installed it they turned it on and closed up shop when they came back in the AM the fridge was 34 degrees (it was set on 3) and had only pulled 2 volts off the house battery. Just thought you would like to know of options. Good luck.
Hi Tom
Thanks for the input about what you did. I will try to find parts and service for the existing unit, but I will also think about what you did with your Westy. Is the name of the manufacturer called "Truckfridge" Model t-49?
Much thanks for your response

Bruce,
I got mine from westyventures.com, I believe his name is Karl, there are pictures on the site of the fridge installed in a eurovan (different model fridge). Anyway good luck and enjoy your travels.
