Event Description

Join us on 4/20 day!

We will be camping this time at Lake Solano County Park campground, which is technically in Winters, but somewhat closer to Vacaville.

In an attempt to fend off giant motorhomes, we have locked up a whole row of desirable camp spots (with utilities!) in advance for our group.

Most of these sites will be shared (two buses per site) and are in the range of sites #39 to 45. (In the unlikely event that we run out, then consider snagging sites 8,9,10 & 11)

This campground is close by, has a swell nature center, offers fishing opportunities and has quite a few roaming peacocks.

Saturday night will feature PANTRY-RAID CHILI!!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Important notes: PLEASE READ!

(1.) This campground LOCKS ITS GATES at 9:00 pm. If you do not arrive before they lock the gates, you will be camping outside the gate until the following morning.

(2.) Although this event occurs on 4/20 day, it must be pointed out that all Solano County Campgrounds are smoke-free and they're quite serious about that.

Discretion is nine-tenths of the law.

Pantry-raid chili instructions

Look in your pantry. Grab only *ONE* 14 oz. (or so) can that matches the description of either Column A, B or C.

Then, bring that can (along with a bowl and spoon for yourself) to the camp out. We will add the contents of your contribution to a base of beef and onions. (There will be enough leftovers that everyone with some Tupperware can take some home.)

Column A

14 oz. can of:
Pinto beans
Red Kidney beans
Black beans
White beans
Navy beans
Piquinto beans

Column B

14 oz. can of:
Diced tomatoes
Diced tomatoes with Italian spices
Diced tomatoes with Jalapeños.
Crushed tomatoes
Chopped tomatoes
Whole tomatoes

Column C

14 oz. can of:
Chili con carne
Chili with beans
Chili without beans
Ranch Style (tm) brand beans of any variety.

If bringing a can won’t work for you, then bring a loaf of pre-made Garlic bread or some sort of scrumptious dessert. If that won’t work either, then just bring a bowl, a spoon and an appetite. Or a bottle of wine. We like wine. Or firewood. We like that too.

I visit the Solano County site to get directions and what to my prying eyes doth appear ..
BOAT RENTALS CLOSED THROUGH SUNDAY 4/22. FOR QUESTIONS/CONCERNS PLEASE CALL 530-795-2290

So being the dutiful follower I dial 530-795-2290 .  The nice lady with the German accent answers.  She manages a storage unit facility.   We chat a bit and she gives me the number of the park.  Verrry similar to her number but not quite.

The secret squirrel method is to change the first "2" to a "9" and redial.  Then you get the park answering machine.  Yah, it's a test to see if I fall for the first bait.  Or you could just look at the second bait, cleverly hidden in the fine print below the first bait.  530-795-2990 .   Ordinary geezer parking for cane rattlin geef is only 6USD.  A fine bargain.  So with canned goodies in hand.  I will visit on Saturday.   And bring a piece of firewood.

Thank you Joe and Corey.  Great venue...just beautiful.  The chili was wonderful, perfect amount of heat.  ...and the company, could not have asked for better.   Heartfelt thanks for a wonderful time.
