Join us for our usual commotion at Sandy Beach Park in Rio Vista, California. The Tent of Doom will be there, so we'll have fun rain or shine.
The park has electrical hookups at every site, so bring your electric heaters if you want to. You may need a 110 v. adapter to use their hookup.
As usual, bring wood, bring wine, bring munchies. If there's demand for a potluck, bring something for that, too.
I just looked at their web site and couldn't find any procedure for reserving on-line. So it looks like they're still doing it the old-fashioned way. But if they implement this, and they tell me about it, I'll let you know.
OK. I just got of the phone with Ranger Richard (not Ranger Rick!) and made my reservation for spot 18. I sure hope somebody will share it with me and split the cost, which will be one-half 0f $60 (or $69 if you want to help with the reservation fee, too). Any takers? I promise I'll bathe beforehand this time.
And Richard said that their on-line reservation system won't be active until February.
So far, it's like this:
Site 15 or 16: Regis
Site 17: Mike F
Site 18: Me
Them what's coming but hasn't reserved a site should let the above people know if they want to split their site or reserve their own (and whether they want to have it just for themselves).
I just talked to the Ranger to reserve #16 for two nights. Gladly share the space to whomever. Will also entertain sharing if only for one night, be it one or two. It's all good.
One of our drivers called in sick so I did deliveries in Sac and the Delta today. Took the "scenic route".....(an airplane on a farm on Ryer Island???)...and made a reservation with Ranger Richard, nice chap BTW. I'll be in #15, so we have 3 in a row and 4 total. He said the extra car fee is $10.00 per bus per night, FYI. I will be more than happy to share one or two nights also, but I do have to work on Friday and probably won't get there until 4ish.
Looking forward to another great campout!
So...in the past, we had a serious Saturday night potluck, with the afore-mentioned chili and other fixins. Is this idea dead? I am just curious as a lurker...
The potluck idea isn't exactly dead, but nobody's been jumping on the bandwagon. I for one will be happy to bring my appetite. And if somebody else commits to chile, I'll bring the oven and attempt to commit cornbread.
Might have to go to the old stand by pizza night, that's always fun.
@ Cat Randall....Hope you have a heater in that van, it's getting a bit chilly out there!
@Cat: just don't leave the Buddy on for an extended period and be sure to open a window or vent. Safe travels!
SF in the Super Bowl makes this event all so much sweeter!!!
I just looked at a weather site, and it tells me that temperatures will be in the mid-sixties in the daytime and the (very) low forties at night. As I mentioned earlier, there are electric outlets at every site, so bring your heaters if you want. I'll have an extra one to loan out, plus a propane "Mr. Heater" to loan. Please let me know if you need them, and I'll make sure they get to you.The Tent of Doom won't be needed for rain, but it helps a lot in keeping the heat around the fire.
