Event Description
On March 31, 1965, I almost died. Every day since then has been a day I didn't deserve. It's been a gift, and I've had almost fifty years of them. I'd like to celebrate these gifts with some other gifts I've been given over the years ... the friendships I've collected from some of the most wonderful people I've had the pleasure to know.
I'll bring the Tent of Doom and wine. You bring wine, wood, and you sweet selves.

The Mt. Madonna deluge was EPIC. I got water in my gas tank that weekend. It had to be pumped out. We are not likely to experience that again, if we have our wits about us and stay away from the high points of the coast range.
So, again, wine regions aside, Finnon lake sounds good to me. But it is John's call.

I like Del Valle because it's close for most of us, and it's a nice campground. Finnon is very nice too and usually we have it all to ourselves. And the drive to Finnon would keep with the theme of this campout too....Cheating Death :)

I've emailed the Del Valle people about which campgrounds/loops will likely be open on the weekend of April 10th. Evidently the window hasn't yet opened for reservations. That might be the best option, but failing that, there is Finnon. And since that weekend won't be easter weekend, there's a chance we could all reserve the place.
And I bought a copy of "Roughing It Easy" at the last Library book sale. Ain't no reason why we can't rough it easy at the same time we cheat death, no?

Here's what I just got back from the Del Valle people:
"Thank you for your e-mail, please note that camping reservations is made 12 weeks (to the day) in advance. If you are starting camping on Friday, April 10th, the first day you can book will be after 8:30am on Friday, January 16th. Please, as a reminder it’s 2 campsites per household. Typically sections 1-64 are open year round."
So it looks like it will be available. Is the weekend of April 10 workable for y'all? That's really the only remaining question.
