Event Description

Greetings.  It's that time again.  What time you ask ?  Well, it's time for the Fantastically Fantastic Fullbelly Fall Food Fest.  Sandy Beach CG in Rio Vista is the place to be.  As of this writing, the Campground has lots of spots .  Party Central can be at site #4.   Rain or shine.  There may or may not be shelter for us to hunker down under but more on that as we get closer.  We'll have the usual pot luck on Saturday around 3pm since it'll be getting dark around 5ish.  Generate more chatter in the comment section.

Remember the motto..  Bring Wood-Bring Wine.  Oh, and perhaps some food for Saturday.

Ok, Volks.  We're gonna need ya to break out those Sun charms.  Make more if you have to.  There's a storm a brewing.  You may be witness to seeing a turkey swim to the party.  We've been through this thing before.  There will be shelter of some sort that should provide some type of solace.  Elbows up, er in this case, turkey wing up.

Regis, if you need the Tent of Doom, just let me know. You can come and pick it up at any time. I'll have it ready. I even acquired another 15 x 20 so you can link them all together and have an enclosed area that's 40' long. But the past 25' long will probably suffice.

Thanks for the offer, JLT.  The thought did cross my mind recently.  At this time I believe that between Scott and I, we should be ok.  He has some shelters and I have some extra tarps and whatnot.  Thanks again.

Hi campers, I'm not going to be able to attend this camping feast after all, so I'd like to donate my campsite, #2 to whoever still needs a spot.  Please let me know and I can email the confirmation form to you.    I'll miss seeing all the friendly faces!  see you next time

It has been brought to my attention that there will be bridge work this coming weekend that will close th Rio Vista bridge.  It appears that the closure will be Friday at 9pm until Monday at 4am.  Getting there on Friday shouldn't be too bad.  Leaving on Sunday will take some creative planning to get home.

If you're coming from the north:

If the Real McCoy#2 ferry is operational, you can use route 84 to get to Rio Vista. Otherwise, the J-Mack ferry (if operational) can be used. It connects 84 with 160 via route 220. Check beforehand with CalTrans, because the reliability of those ferries is not as good as we'd like them to be.

If neither ferry is operation, you'll have to take I-80 to Dixon and approach Rio Vista from the northwest via route 12. That's what I had to do last year.

I can understand that they have slotted until 4am Monday morning for the repair(s).  Fingers crossed that they finish early.

The repairs are also weather related. If it rains on Sunday as it is currently showing, the bridge may be open.

After a fierce battle in the frozen food section, I cast the yellow net onto the tables bounty and bagged a bird.  Zigzagging my way thru the steep walled shelving units toward the open meadow where the steed powered chariot awaits me, I came across the vineyard section.  Making no haste I was able to stomp enough of the fruit from the vines to amass a small collection of tasty adult beverage.  I have returned to the castle .  All is well.
