On serious alcohol note: Who here drinks booze that is not wine? I am going through my dads stuff... OMG! Stuff I bought him and he did not drink because he did not want to run out, so he would buy really cheap shit and drink that (go figure)

* that comes under the heading of, Unconditional Parental Love. *

Yeah, I said it.

I, for one, am not a spirit drinker sans the occasional brandy shot or some sangria.

Booze? I love your raffle idea. Whiskeys of all sorts appeal to me...

I am planning to bring a side dish of sweet potato or butternut squash dressing/stuffing (it's not stuffing if it doesn't go in the bird). I have a can of cranberry jelly that I will bring.

I think we've made do with canned gravy the past few years.

Manned up today and went to the Turkey wrestling place to , well, wrestle us up a Turkey.  I was successful but it was a bit of a struggle.  So many of them. Each one staring me down.  All lined up in rows, puffing out the chest.  I was a bit scared and intimidated at first but did the MJ crotch adjustment and jumped on in there.  Arms and legs (mine) all out of control.  Birds flying, as much as they could, to the left and right.  Lots of screaming, (again me) and after a black eye and a few lacerations I proudly held up the losing opponent.  All delicious 12.22 # of yumminess. The victory song was sung out loud with all of the VWCF pride I could muster.

It was immediately after this that the store manager with two security guards yanked me out of the frozen food section and I was quietly escorted to the check out line.

Hilarious account Regis! Some of those birds of the frozen variety come with a gravy kit tucked inside the cavity. When it thaws, then you'll know.

Regis, when you are looking for the gravy kit inside, remember the movie Alien.

I'll bring a side dish of roasted vegetables. May need to reheat in someone's oven. Still working out the logistics.

As I've said, I'll be bringing the tent and annex. I expect that Regis will be bringing one of equal size. I think I'll bring an extra table or two, a stove and pot specifically to heat water, a couple of plastic basins, and a propane Coleman lantern to illuminate an area we can dedicate to dishwashing, since we won't have that nifty dishwashing station we had at Del Valle or Bothe/Napa. (Yes, I admit that propane lanterns are something we're trying to get away from, but it will only be used when we need a bit of light for cleaning, after which it will be put out so that kerosene lamps can rule.)

As for dinner Friday, pizza night sounds good. I'll have the EZ-bake oven, which I intend to use to bake a little loaf of bread for the feast.

To bring the my new tent would double the Doom.  If rain is in the forecast, two of my large camo tarps will be brought.  I can still tandem from the OE Tent of Doom or just use both of the camo's. Either way, we should be warm and toasty on multiple levels.
