Event Description
Join us for George's 42nd Birthday at Live Oak Recreation area. Camping is $15/night (not as cheap as two years ago, but still pretty cheap). Day use is $5/day (still pretty cheap) if you don't want to camp but want to visit us on Saturday and share the cake. This will be rain or shine -- we'll have the Tent of Doom there.
Bring wine, firewood, and your sweet selves.
The site has no flush privies or showers but does have well-maintained port-a-potties.

Looking forward to it! We'll start out early and make the trek East (18 miles!) Joel, we'll miss you, as a matter of fact we already miss you--haven't seen you and the Rhubarb in forEVER! Melville will love celebrating with a dormie in his prime!

I visited the campground today, and it looks good. Couple of things I need to point out here:
1. You'll need "exact change" for the pay envelopes at the gate; the caretaker does not make change. You might actually want to bring your money in increments of $7.50, so you can either pay for the site in full or repay the person you're sharing space for. BTW, the $15.00 fee is per night, per slot, and the second vehicle in the slot is free.
2. If you're coming up from the south and need groceries and/or ice, you'll pass a Raley's at the intersection of 99 and Bridge Street. If you're coming from the north, there's a Safeway in Gridley, about six miles north of Live Oak. (The latter won't carry block ice, though.) There are a few other supermarkets near the intersection of 99 and 20.
3. I hereby declare that Friday night will be Pizza night. Coleman camp ovens are solicited, and I'll be bringing mine as well. As for Saturday, what do y'all think about a potluck?
4. I expect to get there around 1 p.m. or so.

Thanks for scoping things out. Laura and I will be pulling in on Saturday, mid day. I got another mando for you to check out. My repertoire has expanded quite a bit since Thanksgiving. Need a guitar player there. -Rick
