Event Description

Join us for George's 40th Birthday at Live Oak Recreation area. Camping is $10/night (cheap). Day use is $5/day (still pretty cheap) if you don't want to camp but want to visit us on Saturday and share the cake. This will be rain or shine -- we'll have the Tent of Doom there.

Bring wine, firewood, and your sweet selves.

The site has no flush privies or showers but does have well-maintained port-a-potties.

George may or may not have 40 more years left, but at least he can look forward to those "golden years" ahead, spending more time resting in campgrounds and reminicing about the good old days before vehicles were all infused with plastic and electronics. :)

On another note, there's been a thread on the IAC lit about converting the stock pneumatic windshield washer system with an electric one:

I did this conversion, and it seems to work well. In the process, I also bought quite a few of the momentary contact switches and the connectors for them. If you want them, I'll bring them to the party .

Comment by Blake on April 17, 2011 at 8:13am: Report from the Campground! The facilities are clean and well maintained. Campground hosts are very friendly. Campers: Joe, Mike, Shelby, Blake, Sherri-Mike, John, Melissa, Bryan, Peter. (7 buses total). Only $10 per night per vehicle. George had a great b-day party, even a sheet cake with his picture in frosting on top. Fantastic way to celebrate 40 years of travels and memories. John, thanks for arranging this GTG, we all had a great time!
