The Historic Feather River Railroad route runs on the opposite side of the river from the campground. Trains climb and descend the grade at all hours-you will be falling asleep to the rumble of the diesel engines and the squeal of steel wheels on the tracks. If you have never driven through the Feather River Canyon, it is a real treat!

Those looking for hot springs can find them a couple miles up the road. Formerly known as "Woody's", they are now associated with an RV and cabin establishment. I think you need to call ahead and there is a $5 fee. Details here:

The Twain Store is walking distance from the campground and has ice, ice cream, deli items, beer and more. The camp host will have firewood for sale. It is customary for us to have a group potluck dinner on Saturday -TBD.
I will be in 17, will share with Kris.
Thanks Gene. See you all in a couple of months. Looking forward to it, should be a good one!!
Helllllooo campers,
Sorry I've been so MIA sine last summer. Homer is in the shop getting his transmission rebuilt :( . I was waaay too slow on getting on the reservation train for this most amazing event, anyone willing to share with James and Syd?
You can share with me, Jamez.
aww shucks john, me and syd are extremely grateful, this is by far my favorite campout! I was getting ready to bandit camp down by the river and the general store
Quincy CHP: April 8: "Mother Nature has decided you are not allowed to travel on 70 in the Canyon yet again! We currently have an active slide in the Twain area. SR70 is closed at the Greenville Y westbound and Jarbo Gap eastbound. Unknown duration of closure as the the wet hillside continues to slough."
I will be keeping an eye on the CHP Quincy Facebook Page
I (Kevin) will be in campsite #5
Hi.
I am the Mystery Man (Van?) of site 20.
Unfortunately, my van is dead in the water. It's engine is kaput. It's heading to Stephan's in July for a new engine. In the mean time, I'll be car camping with a tent if that's OK. I can share my spot if anyone needs one.
Looking forward to another great campout! Bring on the trains!
KampnKing: Known to some of us as Ralph. We will check you into site 20. You will not be the first to arrive in an alternative camping arrangement. Just happy that you will join us!
Hallsted Campground is completely booked for the TrainSpotting weekend. #9 is a first-come, first-served site and is not available for advance reservation. There are sites reserved where I don't know who is joining us in those sites. It may turn out to be really interesting for them.
