VW Camper Family

A camping forum for VW bus and camper owners.

I am interested to know how many women have joined this group and how many have their own VW camper van or drive one?

ANNOUNCEMENT 15 NOVEMBER 2010
Thanks for your replies!

There are enough of us ... so I started a NEW GROUP on VW Camper Family, called
VW WOMEN

Look under groups or click here
http://vwcamperfamily.ning.com
/group/vwwomen

OPEN TO ALL WOMEN VW OWNERS OR DRIVERS AROUND THE WORLD!

Would you like to join to network with other women, share advice, news and fun things about your VW experiences?

Please tell others, too.
Cheers,
Carole Brown and her YesWeCan CamperVan

HI GUYS, HOW ABOUT YOU START A NEW THREAD ON THIS TOPIC - I MEAN, A NEW DISCUSSION.
THEN WHEN OTHERS SEARCH FOR THIS KIND OF INFORMATION THEY ARE LIKELY TO FIND IT. CURRENTLY IT'S UNDER THE TOPIC I STARTED RE WOMEN - NOT REALLY THE RIGHT HEADING FOR THIS.
CHEERS,
CAROLE

Absolutely - Here it's nearly an act of congress to either take a name off the title, or add one on. But as long as I brace myself ahead of time for all the BS then I'll be ok. One woman at the DMV office didn't even know what a Bus is/was. How scary is that??

I agree.

I'm getting off subject here. But, for several reasons every "couple" should have both names on the title.
Ooopzzz...sorry 'bout that . I'll be more careful next time............

Hi, I was not wanting an apology, but it would be good wouldn't it to post this information in a category where others can find it. Will you do that by opening up another discussion and providing the information you mention there?

I just bought a 92 Eurovan (it is so a 92! It's a European import!) and that is an ongoing adventure! I can't yet find any documentation on how any of the interior stuff works so any help with the Westfalia stuff would be helpful. Like how tos on fridge and poptop stuff. What makes getting the top up easier? (you won't say a man, right?)
Ooh! I know! I know!

Pop top struts! Hydraulic (I think) lifters, like the ones on the hatchback.

Look for my post in "Groups" "Camping Gear Reviews" "Pop-top lift assist"

Hi, I have trouble lifting my pop top too, but my Van is a 1971 Bay Window Westy so I think these will not help me - will they? I notice the GoWesty ad [http://gowesty.com/ec_view_details.php?id=4505&category_id=253&...] says 'Works with vehicle years: 1980 - 1991', but the link you gave to the Samba ad [http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=798951] does not specify years. Or did I miss that?

>Sorry for chimin' in here, ladies Our is a 78 Westy. It was starting to get difficult lifting the top.

Mine doesn't feel stiff (it comes down when I quit pushing really hard :>P).

> I first learned to crack a window or have the side door ajar for lifting ease.

Yep, do that!

>I secondly learned to spray a bit of lube, in my case WD-40 which is actually a water dispersant, on all the hinge points. Instant miracle. It now lowers almost too easily.

I'll try that, but as I mentioned, down can be too precipitous as it is!

Peg in Alberta
I have an 87 Westfalia.

My family have a bus, but I'm epileptic so I'm not aloud to drive. But... If I could I would have my very own VW Truck, like as old as possible. The older the better. And that is what I would drive always. Dream On....
we inherited our 84 westie/subaru conversion "Belle", i let my husband believe its his baby.....but its mine...and my girls, just like it was when i was growing up in one~;)
I have a '66 EzCamper that I have now owned for 12 years....will NEVER give her up!
Hi I just joined the site! I own my own 1978 Campervan that I am restoring but my boyfriend spends quite a lot of time and $$ on the process as well... so I consider it ours. However, in the law's eyes: it's all mine. :)
