A camping forum for VW bus and camper owners.
Hi all,
I few weeks ago the vinyl/fiberglass cargo storage section over the front seats pulled loose from the brackets at freeway speed and had to be duct-taped and bungee-corded back into place to complete the trip. The section has fatigued and torn away from the bracket fully on one side, and is in the process on the other.
I've been looking for new cargo sections, but they seem to be very scarce. This is on a 1995 Eurovan full camper model, so the cargo section also serves to block wind/rain from the front of the pop-up section when traveling. Has anyone had to replace one of these? Where should I look?
At the suggestion of a westy-owner friend of mine, I've been looking into having the damaged piece repaired at a local fiberglass/vinyl shop (most specialize in boats), but I'm wondering if there's an easier way that I've missed.

Just my opinion, but I'm thinking you're better off spending your money on a replacement, not a repair. You should call GoWesty, 1.888.469.3789.
Try: thesamba.com website, there is always someone parting out a camper for parts CHEAP! Check out link below.

I wanted to reply to let everyone know what our final solution was (I'm a co-owner of Shawn's van). We ended up finding a mechanic that's friends of a coworker of mine. It turns out that the over cab cargo space is plastic, not fiberglass. Our guy replaced the old flimsy brackets, patched the tear, and it's better than ever! If anyone in the Sacramento area needs this type of work done, I would recommend this guy in a heart-beat!!! He does high quality work at a great price!
