Event Description

Saddle up Volks!

VWCF is going to the foothills near Lake Oroville at Lime Saddle Campground. This place is beautiful this time of year whilst it's still green and the wildflowers are out. Soon after, this place is parched and HOT. LS is fairly new, with flush commodes and showers. There's a nice short trail amongst the oaks with an explosion of wildflowers. If you have a boat there's a marina nearby.

The old VWCF adage holds - Bring firewood. Bring tasty beverages. Bring a friend. Have fun.

hope to see you there!

Thanks, John!  I know that a similar reservoir (Woodward, near Oakdale, offers a senior discount for camping and day use fees.

We reserved #22.

Interested! Any news on the senior discount thing? I see that sites 7, 22, and 36 are pretty spread apart, and there are 18 sites still available. Anyone know if the outer sites have lake views? Or if it's OK to share a spot? We'd be happy to share - (Melissa and Randy)

It looks like I'll be in #7 with Regis. I won't be there on Sunday, since I have an obligation to run an event  in Sacramento, But I'm planning to come up on Thursday.

Yeah, I hear ya.  I wish I knew more about the CG terrain.  I have a feeling site 7 is on the hilly side.  There has to be a top that offers somewhat level ground.  I'll find out soon enough.  I'm thinking the place can't be that big.  Anywhere should be within a few minutes from anywhere else.  Maybe that event host can chime in with some info.

Hi there.
Sorry I haven't been here for a while.
The campground is hilly and spread out. but the sites have great views and the bathrooms are clean and large. The area is green this time of year, and the trails have tons of beautiful wildflowers for viewing. I thought it would be nice to check this campground out for a change. Plus it has many sites available. Hopefully the drive isn't too far for Volks, and hopefully the weather will be nice.
It doesn't seem like we have enough campers for a potluck on Saturday. What say y'all?

Some sites have electric, and I think Regis has one if anyone needs to cook something or charge up a device.
I've only been here a few times, so I don't know if there's a trail from the campground down to the reservoir.

Heads up: I don't know if I'll be making it after all. My wife has some eye surgery coming up on the 15th, and she'll be needing to have eye drops applied every four hours or so for the next week. It all depends on whether she'll be able to handle it herself or I'll have to be there to do it. Stay tuned...
