Event Description

There continues to be highway construction and related delays in the Feather River Canyon/Highway 70. Check 511.org before you travel. SR 70 is currently closed. There will also be construction on I-80 west of Truckee. The campground is only available from the east by way of Quincy (70/89) or Greenville (89).

The Historic Feather River Railroad route runs on the opposite side of the river from the campground. Trains climb and descend the grade at all hours-you will be falling asleep to the rumble of the diesel engines and the squeal of steel wheels on the tracks. If you have never driven through the Feather River Canyon, it is a real treat! The weather can be variable in June.

Those looking for hot springs can find them a couple miles up the road. Formerly known as "Woody's", the Feather River Hot Springs are now associated with an RV park and cabins. I think you need to call to make a reservation.

The Twain Store is walking distance from the campground and has ice, ice cream, deli items, breakfast and lunch, beer and much more.

The camp host should have firewood for sale.

It just gets better. Another rockslide on May 6 adds to the closure woes.

At least it’s a scenic drive. 😀

Due to the travel challenges on SR 70 and I-80, I am going to throw in the towel on this year's TrainSpotting campout. Before I return Site 16 to the reservation pool, is there anyone who wants to grab it? It has electric hookups.

Anybody in 17? It is reserved.

I’m not tapping out just yet.  I have four nights booked.  When I leave on that Monday, the van will be pointed towards Montana to visit Amy.
