There continues to be highway construction and related delays in the Feather River Canyon/Highway 70. Check 511.org before you travel. SR 70 is currently closed. There will also be construction on I-80 west of Truckee. The campground is only available from the east by way of Quincy (70/89) or Greenville (89).
The Historic Feather River Railroad route runs on the opposite side of the river from the campground. Trains climb and descend the grade at all hours-you will be falling asleep to the rumble of the diesel engines and the squeal of steel wheels on the tracks. If you have never driven through the Feather River Canyon, it is a real treat! The weather can be variable in June.

Those looking for hot springs can find them a couple miles up the road. Formerly known as "Woody's", the Feather River Hot Springs are now associated with an RV park and cabins. I think you need to call to make a reservation.

The Twain Store is walking distance from the campground and has ice, ice cream, deli items, breakfast and lunch, beer and much more.
The camp host should have firewood for sale.

I just talked to the Twain Store- 70 is open from Orville, just a couple of delay areas do to construction! See you there!
Note: I got this from Reservation.gov a few minutes ago:
This is an update related to your reservation at HALLSTED. The dates affected are 5/28/2024 - 9/30/2024.
Thank you for your camping reservation on the Plumas National Forest.
Highway 70 Eastbound from Oroville is closed, with no estimation of re-opening; however, the campground can be accessed on Westbound highway 70 from Quincy or Highway 89 to 70 from Greenville.
For more information you can call the Mt. Hough Ranger District office at (530) 283-0555. Or you can check the Caltrans Highway Conditions website: https://roads.dot.ca.gov/roadscell.php.
Thank you.
That is nearly identical to the email I received on 4/24/2024. Good luck everyone!
I also received the, " keep yinz posted", email. I'm not giving up. I'm still thinking of trying the Marysville to La Porte to Quincy road. Slower perhaps but scenic, if memory serves.
I guess I could do a rice dish.
