For information on the Hallsted campground, the recreation.gov link is below:
The Historic Feather River Railroad route runs on the opposite side of the river from the campground. Trains climb and descend the grade at all hours-you will be falling asleep to the rumble of the diesel engines and the squeal of steel wheels on the tracks. If you have never driven through the Feather River Canyon, it is a real treat!

Those looking for hot springs can find them a couple miles up the road. Formerly known as "Woody's", they are now associated with an RV and cabin establishment. I think you need to call ahead and there is a $5 fee. Details here:

The Twain Store is walking distance from the campground and has ice, ice cream, deli items, beer and more. The camp host will have firewood for sale. It is customary for us to have a group potluck dinner on Saturday -TBD.
Well, there are plenty of spots that still have one camper. If you are willing to share, it would be nice if you could put that in your post, i. e."
1. Joe Blow (whole space)
2. John Doe/Richard Roe
3. Jane Doe/share
That would give people a better idea of what's available, methinks.
We're in Site 003 , I have to double check, but some friends may be joining us.
It's time to start the chatter. Memorial Day is behind us and TS is in front of us.
1). Road conditions in the Feather River Canyon. There was a lot of road damage this winter but it sounds like much of it has been patched up. You can check Highway 70 road conditions here:
http://www.dot.ca.gov/hq/roadinfo/display.php?page=sr70
2). It is customary for us to have a potluck dinner on Saturday. Please chime in if you'd like to participate and suggest what you might bring.
3). The Twain Store seems to have upped the ante this year. They stayed open all winter and have expanded their food offerings. Last year, Regis did most of his shopping at the store. They have sandwiches, ice, ice cream, beer, frozen chicken parts, and some fresh food. Feel free to call them if you are curious. You can check them out on Facebook:
https://www.facebook.com/TwainResort/
4). This year will be raffle-free, sorry no SWAG, either. I didn't get around to it.
5). The 10-day forecast doesn't quite reach to June 9 yet, so stay tuned on the weather. But be sure to pack your mosquito repellent, sunscreen, water shoes, swimsuit, water chair and shade canopy if you have one.
See you soon-Melissa
I will bring dessert.
We will bring Chips & Dip and Cheese and Crackers.........
I can't cook so I'll bring cookies.
I'm seeing high 70's - low 80's next weekend. How is this even remotely possible?
Oh no. Did I just jinx it all to hell?
Yes you did. Now the mosquitoes will be out in force, and we will have to wear our mosquito proof thongs in the river.
I'll bring a big salad with some chicken on the side (just in case there's a Veggie hiding amongst us) :)
Regis may be right, it looks downright COOL in the ten-day forecast! 60's to low 70's. Holy moly, it hasn't been like this in years! Let's hope the forecast holds.
I'm gassed up, propane tank is full, just about ready to roll!
