In celebration of 4/20!
We will be camping again at Lake Solano County Park campground, which is technically in Winters, but somewhat closer to Vacaville.
You'll need to reserve a site for yourself (and maybe your pal) in the range of sites from #39 to 45. That's the main VW area. If those run out, then consider snagging sites 9,10 or 11. And if those run out, there are lotsa other spaces.
PLEASE SHARE YOUR SITE. Or don't. No worries.
This campground is easy to get to, has a swell nature center, fishing opportunities and has unabashed roaming peacocks.
Saturday night will feature PANTRY-RAID CHILI!!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Important notes:
(1.) This campground LOCKS ITS GATES at 9:00 pm. If you do not arrive before they lock the gates, you will be camping outside the gate until the following morning.
(2.) Although this event occurs near 4/20 day, it must be pointed out that all Solano County Campgrounds are smoke-free and they're quite serious about that.
Discretion is nine-tenths of the law.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
PANTRY RAID CHILI INSTRUCTIONS:
Look in your pantry. Grab a 14 oz. (or bigger) can that matches the description on the list below.
Then, bring along that can (and a bowl and spoon for yourself) to the camp out. We will add the contents of your contribution to a base of beef and onions. There will be plenty. It will be supervised by Adults.
PANTRY RAID CHILI CONTRIBUTION OPTIONS:
Bring along one 14 -15 oz. can of any of the things listed below:
Pinto beans
Red Kidney beans
White beans
Navy beans
Piquinto beans
Diced tomatoes
Diced tomatoes with Italian spices
Diced tomatoes with Jalapeños
Crushed tomatoes
Chopped tomatoes
Rotel tomatoes
Chili con Carne
Chili sin Carne
Chili con Zarigüeya
Ranch Style beans of any variety
Please do NOT bring Black beans.
Please do NOT bring Garbanzo beans.
Please do NOT bring Lentil beans.
If bringing a can of beans won’t work for you, then bring corn bread, tortillas or a scrumptious dessert. Or a bottle of wine. We like wine. Or firewood. We like that too. If that won’t work either, then just bring yourself, a bowl, a spoon, an appetite and a new joke.
I'll stick with 44. I am sure someone will nab 45 if you don't cancel your reservation.
Wait, I think Cathi is referring to Melissa Boyd? She was going to share 45 with Cathi and Louise. I'll post the latest updates to the map this weekend.
Yes, Randy and I are still going and will stay in 45. Cathi, how can we refund your cost for that? If you have a Paypal account or something let me know.
I might add that all are invited to bring whatever musical instruments you have that would fit into a jam. Our friend from Bristol will be provided with an electric bass (plugging into a very small amp, so don't be concerned) and an acoustic bass. I'll be bringing guitar and mandolin, which anybody can play if they want. And Asha, don't forget to bring your fiddle!
Erin and I will be hosting a book exchange / giving library / bloody mary bar at our site on Saturday at 10:00am. Everyone is welcome to bring their books and contribute to the event. The location will be somewhere around site 44 or 45 (TBD). Look for the "BRKHOWZ" license plate. Hope to see everyone there!
Blake and Erin will be joining me in #44. It was the Bloody Marys that persuaded me, LOL!
We're attending with our same friends Cathy and Bill who were with us at the Souper Bowl campout and also with friends Eve and Martin and their Westy. We have sites #35 and #27.
All right! Sorry for the slight delay, taxes got in the way. :( Here is the updated campground map as I understand the postings to date.
Looks like a pretty decent weather forecast for the weekend, though Thursday night we'll be camped near Klamath Falls with a low Friday morning of 29. Yikes.
