Event Description

In celebration of 4/20!

We will be camping again at Lake Solano County Park campground, which is technically in Winters, but somewhat closer to Vacaville.

You'll need to reserve a site for yourself (and maybe your pal) in the range of sites from #39 to 45. That's the main VW area. If those run out, then consider snagging sites 9,10 or 11. And if those run out, there are lotsa other spaces.

PLEASE SHARE YOUR SITE. Or don't. No worries.

This campground is easy to get to, has a swell nature center, fishing opportunities and has unabashed roaming peacocks.

Saturday night will feature PANTRY-RAID CHILI!!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Important notes:

(1.) This campground LOCKS ITS GATES at 9:00 pm. If you do not arrive before they lock the gates, you will be camping outside the gate until the following morning.

(2.) Although this event occurs near 4/20 day, it must be pointed out that all Solano County Campgrounds are smoke-free and they're quite serious about that.

Discretion is nine-tenths of the law.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

PANTRY RAID CHILI INSTRUCTIONS:

Look in your pantry. Grab a 14 oz. (or bigger) can that matches the description on the list below.

Then, bring along that can (and a bowl and spoon for yourself) to the camp out. We will add the contents of your contribution to a base of beef and onions. There will be plenty. It will be supervised by Adults.

PANTRY RAID CHILI CONTRIBUTION OPTIONS:

Bring along one 14 -15 oz. can of any of the things listed below:

Pinto beans
Red Kidney beans
White beans
Navy beans
Piquinto beans
Diced tomatoes
Diced tomatoes with Italian spices
Diced tomatoes with Jalapeños
Crushed tomatoes
Chopped tomatoes
Rotel tomatoes
Chili con Carne
Chili sin Carne
Chili con Zarigüeya
Ranch Style beans of any variety

Please do NOT bring Black beans.

Please do NOT bring Garbanzo beans.

Please do NOT bring Lentil beans.

If bringing a can of beans won’t work for you, then bring corn bread, tortillas or a scrumptious dessert. Or a bottle of wine. We like wine. Or firewood. We like that too. If that won’t work either, then just bring yourself, a bowl, a spoon, an appetite and a new joke.

My spot is your spot, KampnKing.  Welcome aboard!

I went ahead and snagged site 19.  It appears to be one of the nearest sites as the crow flies but there may be a hill in between.  Good for working off 0.1 beer each way.   :)

We got Site 38!  See you there!

Oh well, just not my night - I booked a site at the wrong $#@^! park (snady beach)!  Lake Solano's site is brooooooken!   Will try via 1950's technology land line tomorrow.  yawn... :(

Pat & Paul Schoch (Eurovan Camper) will be in site 15.
Steven & Rose Schoch (another EVC) will be the 2nd vehicle in that site.

I'm making a campground map with a list of everyone and their sites and will post later as we get closer to the event.  Four of Joe's recommended sites have not been claimed in the postings above but also do not appear as available on the reservations listing.  Joe, I presume you are either in 39,  40 or 43? Has someone else reserved site 10?  I'm just checking to see whether the remaining three sites are actually reserved by someone who hasn't posted or is this a glitch in the reservation system.  Could be three prime sites left!  Quick summation, the sites spoken for here include 9, 11, 15, 19, 20, 38, 41, 42, 44, 45 (plus 39, 40 or 43 by Joe).

I am in 39.

"Party Central" is 8 and is also being hoarded for a couple of "likely but unable to commit" wankers.

Comment by Scott & Karla on November 10, 2021 at 8:26am

We're reserved in #37.
