VW Camper Family

WELCOME
Hey everyone! If you found this, you found the online home of some very offline people - The VW Camper Family. People into VW bus and van camping. Get involved in the forum or check out the upcoming events. If you are into VW buses, vanagons, eurovans and camping, you should hang out with us. Really, you should.

HOW TO USE THIS SITE:
Post an event: Post an event that you are organizing or know about. People can RSVP right in the event. Please make any comments about the event on the event's page.

General Forum:
This area is for threads of interest to any VW camper.

Groups:
PLEASE JOIN THE GROUPS YOU ARE INTERESTED IN! THAT'S WHERE THE EVENT PLANNING HAPPENS! Groups can be created as specific needs come up. Things that are a help to all people, like "campground reviews", are perfect for this category. Or groups in a specific location.

15th Annual Thanksgiving Warmup and Food Fest at Sandy Beach Park, Rio Vista CA

November 15, 2024 at 1pm to November 17, 2024 at 1pm
We are going back to Sandy Beach in Rio Vista, CA. This is our annual practice run and food fest  before Thanksgiving. It's a pot-luck, and I'll be roasting a turkey on-site. Electrical outlets will be available for people with hot pots and such,A few more things: last year, the reservation section of the park's web site was a bit dodgy, and senior discounts weren't on the menu there. (Note that the URL is different from last year. Now it's https://parkreservations.solanocounty.com/index_C5.asp) If you qualify, go ahead and reserve your spot at the going rate, and make contact with the park by phone to arrange a refund of part of the fee. The point is to grab your spot first, and settle the bill later. The second thing: Note that all reservations must be made at least two weeks in advance of the date, and no "first-come-first-served" sites are provided anymore. But if you're late, look for the people willing to share…See More

Annual Soup or Bowl Campout at Sandy Beach Park, Rio Vista CA

February 7, 2025 at 2pm to February 9, 2025 at 11am
Our annual escape from Superbowl Madness. It will be our usual set-up .... wine, food, companionship (bring the wine and bring or buy the wood). Also, musical instruments are welcome, and maybe we can jam a little.Friday night is pizza night ... bring your little Coleman camp ovens or use ours, and make and bake an 8" pizza. (You provide ingredients, of course.)We used to hold: the legendary 'Soup or Bowl' competition, featuring any dish that can be served in a bowl (soup, chili, or whatever).  But the people who ran that event have moved away. We can still do the "Soup or Bowl" as a potluck. Or some volunteer wants to step up and run it. Let me know what y'all want to do.Party Central will be spot #4. As usual, it will be rain or shine, and if it's rainy, the Tent of Doom and the Annex of Despair will help keep us all dry.Three more things: Be aware that there are wild critters (raccoons, feral cats, etc.) that will go into any open camper that you're not around. So be sure to keep…See More
