We are back for year XVII!The weekend starts Thursday, May 15th (who doesn’t love an extra night of camping?!)There is no such thing as reservations for this event! Drive in and pick your spot or join another camper and make new friends. If we have a larger than normal turnout, we do encourage sharing your space. The sites are large and there is plenty of room for everyone. The campground is closed to the general public until Memorial Day weekend. Ranger Chris is once again opening the weekend before just for the VW Family! It’s a secret - it’s always special. The gate will open on Thursday, May 15th at noon. There will be space for you - no reservations are needed! We have never turned anyone away. We love that this event brings in 60+ VWs every year. This event is special and we have many people who have been attending since the first year. Enjoy camping under the Redwood canopy, float on the river (private access just across the road), clean bathrooms with hot showers and flush…See More

Annual Soup or Bowl Campout at Sandy Beach Park, Rio Vista CA

February 7, 2025 at 2pm to February 9, 2025 at 11am
Our annual escape from Superbowl Madness. It will be our usual set-up .... wine, food, companionship (bring the wine and bring or buy the wood). Also, musical instruments are welcome, and maybe we can jam a little.Friday night is pizza night ... bring your little Coleman camp ovens or use ours, and make and bake an 8" pizza. (You provide ingredients, of course.)We used to hold: the legendary 'Soup or Bowl' competition, featuring any dish that can be served in a bowl (soup, chili, or whatever).  But the people who ran that event have moved away. We can still do the "Soup or Bowl" as a potluck. Or some volunteer wants to step up and run it. Let me know what y'all want to do.Party Central will be spot #4. As usual, it will be rain or shine, and if it's rainy, the Tent of Doom and the Annex of Despair will help keep us all dry.Three more things: Be aware that there are wild critters (raccoons, feral cats, etc.) that will go into any open camper that you're not around. So be sure to keep…See More

"I'm not sure if they know that you are a "Returning Camper" if you have never applied for the Senior discount before. But I wouldn't worry about it. The rangers have always been cooperative."
